Celebrate Winter With A Printable Scripture Art Photo Scavenger Hunt
The winter months can make it so hard to get outside. It’s cold. Really cold in some places. When you combine that with the ever-shortening amount of daylight, it can be incredibly difficult to find the motivation to go outside. There’s got to be a purpose in order to make it worthwhile to go out in the cold, doesn’t there? A winter printable scripture art photo scavenger hunt is the perfect way to help bring purpose, fun, and creativity to your homeschool day when ‘the weather outside is frightful’.

Probably the hardest part of this lesson plan is finding scarves, hats, and gloves for everyone! Once, that’s accomplished use this simple photo scavenger hunt lesson plan for adding a scripture-inspired photo scavenger hunt to your homeschool day.
Lesson Plan
- Pick a topic from the scripture art printable.
- Discuss with family members where the best place would be to find the day’s topic. Make a plan to go there.
- Sometime before you arrive, (at breakfast, in the car, at the beginning of the nature walk… you’ll find the right place), read the scripture on the printable for from God’s word and get everyone thinking about what they might want to keep an eye out for their pictures and photography art prints they are going to create.
- Spend enough time outdoors exploring for each person to take 3-5 different pictures of the day’s topic and/or scripture. Take time to look for creative ways to find god’s fingerprint in nature in a beautiful way.
- Once you are back inside. Have a hot drink & snack. Talk about your favorite things from the scripture art photo scavenger hunt. Let the kids talk about why they chose their subject for their picture, how it reminded them of the scripture, and does it remind them of anything else (a quote, a story, a funny memory).
- Ask them what they might do differently next time. This is a great way to plan the next nature adventure and choose a different topic and scripture from the Word of God.
- Encourage them to add the image and scripture to a journal or create another work of art based on the image or the scripture. Places like Canva are great ways to create homemade scripture printables or digital items that make the perfect gift for a family member, or Sunday school teacher.
- Don’t forget to save the images so you can create a fun project like a calendar, storybook, or greeting cards with the images (grandparents, aunts & uncles will love these!).
