There are a variety of ways to approach learning about the first 13 US States.  What’s important is that it is fun, engaging, and creates a love of learning.

You could simply take a subject such as Presidents, the American Revolution or even American art and study what each of the 13 US States contributes to the subject.  Wanting to explore Literature? Then complete all literature resources provided.

You will explore State & National Parks along with the best museums in each of the states. to get an up-close, exciting picture of history, geography, and life in these 13 US States throughout history.

You could also keep it simple and spend 13+ weeks studying one state a week. Picking and choosing what you want to focus on each week.

Here is a sample one week schedule to use with each section.

Day 1: Literature – Start reading a book associated. When finished, write a book report** or give a presentation about the book.

Day 2: Geography & State Facts  Using your workbook, complete the geography & state facts section.

Day 3: Brief State History & Famous People – Learn about the history and complete any corresponding worksheets.

Day 4: Famous Places – Learn about famous people & places. Complete any corresponding worksheets.

Day 5: Finish Up – Finish any reading or worksheets for the week & present what you learned to your family or learning community using the resources included here.

Alternatively, you could do 13 weeks of just literature, or just famous people or….you get the idea.  It’s a treasure trove of resources based for each of the first 13 US States.
