London Neighborhoods Big On Fun
London neighborhoods are such an exhilarating place for families to explore together. Ambition, good planning, and a quality pair of walking shoes are all you need to find maximum fun for your family in London. Of course, there are history and art museums. But, there are also loads of pure fun waiting for you to discover. So grab your passport! Let’s dive right into 3 London neighborhoods big on fun.
The West End
The theatre is what it’s all about in the West End! This is a London neighborhood big on fun. It’s teeming with some of the best stage productions in the world! If possible, let the kids sleep in a bit, or play in Leicester Square Gardens while one person sets off to hunt down the best theatre tickets you can afford. Or better yet, buy them in advance and avoid the queue! London Pro Tip: Kids Go Free in August! But, these tickets go on sale early in the year (like in March or April) and sell out quickly, so plan ahead if you are in London in August.
There are many shows suitable for families so don’t pass up taking your kids to the theatre! It’s a great option if the weather turns wet and you need an engaging activity for indoors.
In the London for Families City Guide – The West End I’ll show you how to get cheap theatre tickets, and spend the day in this neighborhood enjoying the markets, gardens and walking tours while you wait for the curtain to go up! London Castles, Theatre, and Royals have even more family travel tips for you.
Windsor
If you are headed to Windsor for castle tours and seeing the Lady Diana Exhibition, plan time for the kids to play in the Lady Diana Memorial Park. You can walk thru the castle gardens & even enjoy a picnic lunch. Make the most of Windsor & nearby neighborhoods by enjoying the outdoors. If the castle & gardens are a bit out of your price range, grab your Oyster Card and catch the next tube, train or bus to Richmond Park, Bushy Park or Runnymede (these parks are free). Here are the details on other great places to let the kids run, play and explore the outdoors in London.
Did I mention Legoland is in Windsor too?
This Windsor neighborhood, which is on your way to Heathrow Airport, has so much to offer families. For even more information, grab the London for Families City Guide – Richmond, Chiswick & Windsor.
