How to Plan Adventure
If you’ve been around me or Captivating Compass for long, you know I like to keep busy. I like to have just enough going on to avoid boredom. Although it can turn into too much at times, it does keep me from micromanaging the heck out of my family.
One of the reasons I decided to start Captivating Compass was because I found that I was interfering too much in the educational process of my children! It seems odd, right? It’s the same reason that I traveled so much while my husband was in school. I needed to keep busy, and honestly, others needed me to keep busy with something so they could get on with what their responsibilities were.
I don’t know what I thought writing a blog or owning a digital business was going to be like.
I’m pretty sure I had this glorified dream of enjoying a beachfront cottage while the kids frolicked in the water and millions of people followed my every blog post and bought every item I deemed fantastic.
That’s how I dreamt I would plan travel adventures for this homeschool mompreneur life.
The reality is, digital online business is hard work, like any other job. It has its rewards and frustrations. Mundane tasks and tasks that excite me to no end. I’m not quite to the beachfront cottage stage, but I have high hopes & big goals. This God-breathed journey is a crazy ride, but I love it!
Around the house you can often hear me saying, “Just working on this one last thing…it’s going to be so good!” I could be talking about dinner, the next lesson plan or an upcoming field trip or travel destination.
Those kinds of comments are still rather familiar around our house. But the reality is often a different scenario… at least during the school year. My homeschool mompreneur life is one of wool sweaters, leggings and my hair in a messy bun. I jump from homeschool tasks to website tasks to household jobs and chauffeuring duties at lightspeed some days. I don’t recommend this way for everyone.
But, being passionate about pursuing this God-breathed dream is my motivation to enjoy this adventure called life. Every. Single. Moment.
Adventure Planning & Organizing
To keep it all organized does take some stealth planning. There are two planners or tools for organizing that I use. For years, I used a paper planner exclusively. It was easy to use and I could keep everything contained in one notebook for all areas of homeschool.
Once we moved, I dedicated myself to using less paper and printer ink. A more minimalist lifestyle for our homeschool with the same high caliber planning resources was required. But, I struggled to find a truly digital planner that had the stealth & flexibility my family needed.
When I heard about Homeschool Planet, I was over the moon!
The Homeschool Planet digital planning platform was perfect for our unique style of homeschooling. It allowed me to plan and deliver assignments in a digital format. I tailor-made everything to fit our travel, business, and homeschool needs. The flexibility of the platform allows the highest level of interactive planning for our homeschool while still maintaining an independent working environment that is unique for every child in our family.
I have saved tons of ink and paper! But, more importantly, I’ve saved my sanity, kept the kids organized for their lessons and freed up time to concentrate on other aspects of our life.
