Epic European Vacation
AND
Cheap Airfare?
My airfare secrets will help you get the best price!
I can help you make your European dream vacation come true! In the next few posts, I’m going to let you in on a few of the travel and airfare secrets I use when planning airfare purchases to Europe. I’ll also help you get started on planning your dream European vacation.
First Up, Airfare Secrets!
Planning early (or waiting until the very last minute) is a really good way to get cheap plane tickets. There are a gazillion websites out there to help you find the best fares. My faves are Skyscanner.net, Rome2Rio.com, and Kayak.com.
Here’s what I like:
Rome2Rio.com
I almost always start my trip planning at this site. Whether it’s a weekend away or a world tour (Well, I haven’t done that yet, but it’s still on the bucket list!). Rome2Rio.com can help find the fastest, cheapest and most direct ways to get to your destination. “Do you want it fast? How ’bout cheap? Direct flight? Well, you might have to pick two to get a low airfare. BUT, the super cool thing is that Rome2Rio.com allows you see all your options at one time. Then, they direct you to the best sights to purchase the tickets or make the reservations. Airfare, bus, ferry, train, taxi. Rome2Rio.com’s got you covered!

Skyscanner.net
I LOVE their “everywhere” feature on their search! Even if I know where I want to go, I sometimes see what the “everywhere” sale offers are and see if I can find a flight somewhat close to my destination. I might just be able to snag a flight and train or bus ride for cheaper than originally planned if there is a sale going on. It doesn’t always work out, but it’s great for dreaming! And you never know, I might score super cheap airfare. It has been known to happen. Give it a try and possibly save yourself hundreds of dollars on airfare!
Kayak.com
Ok! So in Kayak.com, my favorite feature is “Explore”. It’s on the top menu bar. Click it, enter your home airport and the world is at your fingertips! So cool! You can see the various prices for flights all over the world throughout the year! And, if that’s not enough, they tempt you with destination guides with ridiculously low airfare. Romantic Getaways for $40?!? Yes, Please! At that price, I might be able to afford a babysitter for the weekend! Their “Explore” feature is super easy to use!
I often toggle between Rome2Rio.com and Skyscanner.net and/or Kayak.com. When I work the 2 search engines at the same time, I can drill down and find the best deals for my dream destination. Try it and take your travel dreams to the next level!
These three websites are where I start my dream searching. It helps me get a sense of what my budget needs to look like. I might need to downsize my dreams or upgrade my vacation saving plan. It’s all part of the dreamy planning stage, isn’t it?
Of course, these sites help you avoid the planning of the trip too. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve got some great package deals! Sometimes all-inclusive IS the way to go! BUT, I absolutely, positively, without question, love the adrenaline rush of planning the trip! It’s second only to actually taking the trip and seeing the sights and making the memories in whatever location I’ve been dreaming about!
Oh! One last thing!
Remember to set up alerts at sites like Kayak and Skyscanner. These handy alerts help you track the fluctuations in airfare allowing you to get the best price to your dream destination. When vacation time has been approved, commit to the airfare and buy the tickets from the site offering the best price. Easy Peasy!
Hope you gained a few tips reading about how I plan for trips! Up next in the series is Budget Airlines. I’ll share my secrets to getting great airfare once you have landed in Europe. Sometimes it’s even cheaper and faster than the train!
